<aside> 💡 The Climate Leadership Program X on Resilient Cities is a professionally guided leadership program designed by SUSTERA Foundation to empower dedicated citizen leaders from Bengaluru to tackle the city’s unique urban hazard challenges. In this 10-week intensive fellowship, selected few individuals aged 22 to 45 will gain an in-depth understanding of urban climate risks and the skills to address pressing environmental issues that impact Bengaluru’s communities daily. This fellowship focuses on real, actionable change, equipping participants with tools to tackle urban hazards that threaten the city's sustainability, including water scarcity, urban heat, flooding, and air pollution. By the end of the program, participants will not only understand the complexities of these issues but also be prepared to lead community-driven initiatives for a resilient and sustainable Bengaluru.
Commitment Requirement: This program requires a commitment of approximately 10 hours per week along with 3 offline days for immersive, hands-on learning.
Note: This program is designed for those ready to take initiative, build a resilient Bengaluru, and lead impactful citizen movements for climate resilience.

Over the past three years, Bengaluru has grappled with numerous urban hazards—intense heatwaves, severe water stress, and recurrent floods. These challenges have significantly impacted the city's infrastructure and residents' quality of life. As Bengaluru expands, these issues intensify, disproportionately affecting vulnerable populations, particularly migrant communities lacking robust support systems. Addressing these urban hazards is crucial for ensuring sustainable development and building resilience in the city.
SUSTERA Foundation, established in 2017, is a nationally recognized nonprofit dedicated to building climate resilience across India. With a mission to empower communities and young leaders, the foundation works on bridging gaps in climate adaptation, mitigation, and advocacy, contributing to a sustainable and resilient future. Through its work, SUSTERA has become a trusted leader in climate action, equipping citizens with the knowledge and skills necessary to face the growing challenges posed by climate change.
For over seven years, SUSTERA Foundation has run its flagship Climate Leadership Program as a transformative training initiative aimed at preparing citizens, especially youth, to tackle climate change and foster resilience. With the world nearing 1.5°C warming, the program equips participants with skills, tools, and techniques essential for building resilient communities. Having successfully trained climate leaders across Tamil Nadu, Kerala, and Uttarakhand, the foundation now brings this impactful program to Bengaluru.
<aside> 💡 What Are Urban Hazards?
Urban hazards refer to the various environmental, social, and infrastructural challenges that cities face due to rapid urbanization and climate change. These hazards include heatwaves, urban flooding, air pollution, water stress, and more. As cities like Bangalore continue to grow, the impacts of these hazards become more severe, affecting the health, safety, and livelihoods of urban populations. Addressing urban hazards is critical for creating sustainable, resilient cities. By taking proactive measures, we can mitigate risks, protect vulnerable communities, and promote long-term urban resilience.
